A BRIGHTER FUTURE

26th June 2019, Onkar Mary Ryan

In today’s fast-paced world the one thing many of us crave is peace of mind. The way we experience this is in direct relationship with a healthy mind, body and spirit (connection).

The spirit is complete, perfect and divine.

An important part of us feeling healthy comes from having the mind and body in alignment so the soul/spirit can be expressed in its infinite and divine way. When one or both (our mind or body) are out of alignment, we can experience feelings of discomfort, frustration, negativity and unhappiness.

When we are aligned, the creative force flows through us. I like to refer to it as, “Divine Alignment”. When we experience mental or physical pain we can tend to feel stuck or confused which can put a block in the flow. When the ease of fluidity becomes blocked, feelings of not being able to move forward in life progress and it maybe difficult to manifest those things we truly desire or the things that really serve our life’s purpose.

Things that affect our mental, emotional and physical well-being are related to our diet, self-care, our environment, belief systems and life circumstances.

My teacher Yogi Bhajan talked about the times we are living in and described it in this way, “Our minds are waking up to more sensations and thoughts, both consciously and subconsciously. As we go through this expansion, many of us sense it with confusion, subliminal anxiety, fear, and fantasy.“

There are ways that we can locate our own inner compass, and know the direction and manner by which we can participate, contribute to ourselves and the world in a positive way.

THE FIRST STEP

In conquering any mental discomfort we may have is to first recognize it, see it and decide that you are ready to confront whatever it is standing in the way of your true, peaceful state of being.

THE SECOND STEP

Is to take action. Our teacher always said “Act, don’t React”.

One tool and guideline I like to follow that my teacher gave for these times are called “The Five Sutras for the Aquarian Age”. They are listed below:

1. Recognize that the other person is you.

This sutra asks us to see our similarities with an open heart and mind, giving us a greater capacity of compassion for the other and our life experiences.

2. There is a way through every block.

This sutra reminds us there is always a “WAY”. To be able to allow the answer to come or the experience to happen may take a new level of openness from us.  It takes courage and sacrifice to perceive things in a different way, but there is always a way.

3. When time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.

This Sutra says it all … just “START” whatever it is, and we truly will experience the pressure being taken off, simply by our decision to move forward and to BE present in the NOW.

4. Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.

Sometimes there is no way to understand some else’s life circumstances if we truly haven’t experienced them ourselves. This sutra guides us to only approach others and life with compassion.

5. Vibrate the Cosmos. The Cosmos shall clear the path.

The cosmic energy of the universe is vibrating with energies of love, compassion, kindness. Every word and thought we speak is created through a vibration. The Cosmic energy is high vibrations and if we vibrate at that frequency of love, kindness, compassion and light, those frequencies will clear the path.

If we choose negative words and thought patterns, they can work against us and delay our true desire. This sutra is asking us to speak, think and feel the vibratory effect of the cosmic universe and to allow it to help us to clear the path, mentally, emotionally and physically.

These are a beautiful guide to print out… put by your bedside, or on your bathroom mirror or on your desk at work. Take these sutras with you everywhere and use them to remind you of the sacredness in all beings and situations in life.

THE THIRD STEP

Is meditation. Meditation can help us to clear our minds of clutter and bring us to a brighter state of mental and emotional stability.

I have chosen a meditation that Yogi Bhajan gave for balance. He said, “this is a very sophisticated kind of yoga, a yoga which is for higher beings. It is very delicate and very pure.”

If you are new to meditation you can start with 5 minutes and work up to 11 minutes. The maximum time for this meditation is 31 minutes. This is a beautiful way to help calm and balance you.

THE FOURTH STEP

Is to be in Nature. Nature can be the biggest healer. If you are someone that spends a lot of time inside or in front of a computer, schedule a walk outside once a day or once a week.

These are some guidelines that you can use if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and needing a fresh start. The key here is to make life, our mental outlook and being-ness simple and peaceful. This may ask us to let go of unhealthy habits we may have or beliefs we have harbored through-out our lives. Whatever it is…don’t believe it, instead seek it, experience it and be it. That is where the true peace is.
